What Path Are You On?

“You cannot travel the path until you have become the path itself” ~ Buddha

We each follow a path, one that is ours alone. Are you following the one you want to follow?

Our path begins with a choice, much like a choice to move forward with our lives after the death of a loved one, or end of a marriage. We must move forward. Standing still makes us stagnant. The human soul is not meant to be stagnant. It longs to run free, like wild mustangs.

These paths run along cliffs high above grounds with spikes, spiders and lava. Much like Frodo in the Lord of the Rings, each of us carry our ring, our burden the thing about us that we keep hidden from prying eyes.

Our burden is not that of a whole planet or race. It is one that we alone know about. It is one that we hold close to us, for if we tell anyone they would think less of us.

Fear motivates us to keep our burden to ourselves. It makes us stand in the shadows of the lives we wish we had.

“Don’t pray for lighter burdens, but for stronger backs.”Buddha

Paths are set before us throughout our lives, they tell us where we may want to go. They remind us of our burdens, who we are, what we’ve lived through, and our pain.

Do we see each step along the path before it reaches us? No. Each stone is laid along the path as we step. Each step is a marker of where we’ve been. As life leads us through one path to another it is our choice that makes the path appear.

Like a video game; we must select the path then we continue our journey.

What path are taking? Respond in the comments.
